Electronic Equipment Recovery, Recycling, and Disposal
Promoting proper use and disposal of supplies
Unisys Corporation is committed to complying with all governmental legislative and regulatory requirements for providing environmentally sound recovery, recycling, and disposal of customer end-of-life Unisys branded electrical and electronic equipment. Many parts from end-of-life recovered equipment are refurbished for future reuse as replacement parts, while the remaining materials are delivered to end-of -life electronic equipment recyclers for disposal.
Over the years we have recovered 45.8 million pounds of obsolete products internally, as well as a large percentage of products from clients globally and processed them through recycling partners and third-party facilities. Since 2018, we have refurbished over 65,000 assets (laptops, computers, servers, telephones, monitors, IT racking equipment and certain plastics) for reuse, more than 78,000 assets have been recycled for material recovery, and close to 19,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions have been avoided.
In 2023, more than 300,000 pounds of EOL electronics were collected as a part of this program, designed to incorporate applicable compliance obligations, including with the WEEE Directive.
Unisys utilizes only environmentally sound disposition partners. In the European Union, these partners are conducting business in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and related Member State legislation.
Whenever possible, Unisys promotes recycling opportunities, reduces waste generation and encourages the wise use of supplies and materials during and after their useful life. In our commitment to a cleaner environment, Unisys is involved in a variety of product-focused initiatives that help us, our customers, and the planet.

We are obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to our clients for treatment and recycling. We are required to do this in any calendar year we place new industrial batteries on the market. If any of our clients, or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact us at the contact information below. We will arrange for the necessary return, proper treatment and recycling of the waste industrial batteries.
